Step 1: Find them all
- On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
- On Android: Google Play, Payments and subscriptions.
- Search your email for "receipt", "renewal" and "subscription".
- Scan the last two months of card purchases for repeating amounts.
Step 2: See the yearly cost
A small monthly price looks harmless. Multiply by twelve: five subscriptions at 40 a month is 2,400 a year.
Step 3: Keep, pause or cancel
For each one, ask: did I use it in the last month? If not, cancel or pause it. You can always come back.
Step 4: Get reminded before renewals
Add your subscriptions to Expensly on the App Store. It shows what they cost each month and reminds you before each renewal, so nothing renews by surprise.
